Gotta Catch ‘Em All…Pokémon
Happy Halloween! I don’t know about you all but I usually plan Halloween costumes pretty far in advance. This year we decided to do a theme for both of the kids. For a while, my son was really into Pokémon and all things trading cards. I thought it would be a fun idea to have Cameron dress up as Ash Ketchum and Aubrey as Pikachu! I mean there are only so many more Halloweens before my oldest refuses to dress up with his baby sister, right?! I’m all for taking advantage of his willingness here. I began looking up costumes on the internet. I was not surprised when I found…
Breast Cancer Awareness
As we all know, October is breast cancer awareness month. Screening and early detection can help to save lives. As an Oncology Nurse I am all too familiar with educating patients as well as the community on early detection and breast screenings. Last week I went for my annual GYN follow-up. Everything was going well, we were chatting about life. She had me lay back for her to do my breast examination. As she was doing her exam she looked down at me and frowned, “what’s that?” she asked. I placed my hand over the area she was referring to and my heart immediately sank into the pit of my…
Toddler Curly Hair Wash Routine
Having curly hair can be a love hate relationship. Dealing with my hair is one thing, but having to tame a wild toddler’s mane too?! Let me tell you, I have my work cut out for me. I am sure many mommas out there can relate. I sometimes sit and find myself asking. . . “What the heck do I do with all this hair?” My daughter’s hair texture is slightly different from mine. The front of her hair has very fine ringlet curls and the back of her hair consists of more coarse curls. With the back being so coarse, it tangles and becomes frizzy very easily-ugh. I remember…

Essentials on Essential Oils
Have you guys ever been curious what all the hype was about with regards to Essential oils? I know I have. Essential oils are extracted from different plants and are created with the aromatic (smell good) compounds from these plants. Essentially, these oils hold on to the plants’ scents and other chemical properties. They each give off a unique fragrance and can are often used in alternative medicine. Essential oils can be applied topically, inhaled or ingested. They can be used for stress relief, pain relief, immune booster, sleep aid and so much more. I was first introduced to essential oils a few years ago by one of my co-workers.…
Immune Boosting Chicken & Vegetable Soup
There is nothing quite like a delicious bowl of chicken vegetable soup on a cold, rainy day to help warm you up from the inside out. Not only is this soup soothing for our tummies, but it is also packed full of antioxidants that can naturally help to improve our immune system. This can be so beneficial during the winter months when cold and flu season are running rampant. I know I need all the help I can get with two little ones at home, who love to share their germs. After a few weeks into the school year, my son already brought home a case of the…
Command Center
My family is constantly on the move. Between work, school, practices and activities, it can be overwhelming trying to keep track of it all. I need some help staying organized. I came across the idea of a home command center and I knew immediately that this is what I needed. A central area where I can keep track of dates and times of baseball practices/games, school events, work schedules and family activities. I also need to collect paperwork. My kitchen table winds up being the keeper of most papers, but I think it is time to find them a new home. Let’s just say I am ready to create a…
Salmon Cakes
Out of all the seafood out there, Salmon has got to be my favorite fish to create with, in the kitchen. It is always so flavorful and juicy, no matter how you cook it.
