Cake Pops

Cake pops are mini creations made with cake crumbs and cake frosting. They create delicious fluffy yet moist insides surrounded by a chocolate coating. They are the perfect additional treat for birthday parties. Cake pops are easy to make and you can even get your children involved in the fun. Personally, I am a little too OCD and kept all the fun to myself this time.  For my daughter’s 3rd birthday I decided to make cake pops for the first time. They were decorated to coordinate with her Baby Shark themed party. I made them the night before her party to make sure they were fully dry for party time. This was my first time attempting cake pops and I was very pleased with how they turned out.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Cake Mix & ingredients listed on the box
  • 2 lbs white chocolate candy melts
  • 1/3 cup vanilla icing
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Sprinkles
  • Blue food coloring

INSTRUCTIONS

1.      Prepare the cake mix per instructions on the box.

2.      Let the cake cool completely.

3.      In a large bowl, using your hands, crumble cake into fine crumbs. If you have a food processor, your job will be even easier!

4.      Scoop and roll the dough to form into balls and lay them on wax paper.

5.      Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to an hour.

6.      Melt white chocolate candy in the microwave. (Be careful not to overheat)

7.      Stir the food coloring into the melted mixture.

8.      Dip your lollipop stick in the candy melt mixture and then place halfway through the balls. Make sure you let the candy mixture harden.

9.      Hold candy stick and dip into the melted mixture, coating the cake pop completely. Allow the excess to drip off to one side.

10.  Add the sprinkles.

11.  Place in a holder to allow them to harden completely. (You can use Styrofoam or a cardboard box).

12.  Once completely dry, put out on display and wait for them to get eaten!

SERVINGS  12 cake pops

All the guests enjoyed the cake pops! While I was making them, I had a few that fell apart but don’t worry they didn’t go to waste! My husband swooped in and saved the day by eating most, if not all the remnants of the unsuccessful pops! What event do you plan on making your cake pops for?
