Gotta Catch ‘Em All…Pokémon
Happy Halloween!
I don’t know about you all but I usually plan Halloween costumes pretty far in advance. This year we decided to do a theme for both of the kids. For a while, my son was really into Pokémon and all things trading cards. I thought it would be a fun idea to have Cameron dress up as Ash Ketchum and Aubrey as Pikachu! I mean there are only so many more Halloweens before my oldest refuses to dress up with his baby sister, right?! I’m all for taking advantage of his willingness here.
I began looking up costumes on the internet. I was not surprised when I found that Ash costumes were pretty expensive. Instead of buying an already put together outfit, I looked for the individual items that would make Ash’s costume. His signature hat, a poké ball and his blue vest. Amazon shop here we come, again. I found all items so easily. Cameron was right there to pick out a blue vest he liked. The good thing about putting together the pieces of his costume? He can wear the vest for more than just Halloween night and well, Aubrey has already confiscated the poké ball and it now resides in her toy box.
When it came to looking for Aubrey’s costume, it was a little more difficult finding the correct size. A lot of the costumes were too big for her. Finally, we stumbled upon one and it ended up being the perfect fit! Aubrey was immediately in love with her costume. She requested to put it on right after opening it and wore it almost every day until Halloween. She would run around the house yelling “Pikachu!” Both kids were pretty excited about their costumes and couldn’t wait for Halloween.
For a pre-Halloween event, we headed to the National Boo at the Zoo Event with some friends to get a head start on trick or treating. We had a blast and got plenty of candy to share with the whole family! I mean we can’t let the kids have all the candy now can we. Share the wealth please, especially those butterfingers! Now, time for more trick or treating with the family tonight to end off a fun-filled Halloween month.
Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween. Have fun trick or treating!
